It’s a time of year when we look for signs of a new and better year.  That’s why it’s so important to look in places where meaningful, lasting change can be generated.  That place is best found within ourselves.

Mike Todd, was one of the greatest entrepreneurs of the 20th century.  He is still remembered for his contribution to cinema.  During his life, he was known as a big risk taker.

He had great successes and equally impressive failures.

He married Elizabeth Taylor and he died a tragic death.

But he left an indelible impression on my mind, and I’m sure, many other’s, with some words I have never forgotten.

He said:

“I have been broke many times,  but I have never been poor”

 ‘Broke’ is a temporary inconvenience.

‘Poor’ is a permanent state of mind!

For those who fear failure and can’t get past it.  For those who still struggle to make a $.  For those who are on the verge of giving up and for those who continue to push ahead at all cost.  Take courage in those words.  They can change your mindset and keep you focused on your destination.

Make sure you start the year with a map that points to where you are going.  Stick to it, trust it, and never give up.  Without a map, you are destined to get lost.  Always remember: It’s ok to be broke – it’s only temporary!

I am a writer, blogger and author of two books about carbohydrate addiction. It is my goal to reach people to inform them and prove to them that food addiction, or sugar addiction are not cute, acceptable cravings. They are evidence of carbohydrate addiction. This is an addition as real and dangerous as drugs, tobacco and alcohol. The symptoms are similar and the consequences include obesity, type2 diabetes, heart disease colon and bowel cancer.
