Research presented today shows that high-fructose corn syrup can cause behavioural reactions in rats similar to those produced by drugs of abuse such as cocaine.
Evidence that we are addicted to food is everywhere!
Being addicted to any types of food must be unhealthy. But it does raise a question: What is unhealthy food? There is only one place we can get a valid answer and that’s from our body. That’s where our food is processed. That’s where the damage is done. And that’s the only place it can be fixed.
What if I was to tell you that most of us are getting our food information all wrong? Instead of asking ourselves: What is the most healthy, tasty food that I enjoy eating?. We should be asking what is the most healthy, suitable food for our body to process. It is easy to assume the two are the same.
They used to be, but today they are worlds apart. We assume if food is certified healthy and we enjoy the taste and we believe it is good for us. It must therefore be good for our body. But our body does not value our food according to taste. It values it by the ratio of protein, carbohydrate and fat. It values it by how easily and how efficiently it can process the food and distribute it to the right areas within the body.
That we are addicted to processed foods, is denied by the food industry and most of the diet experts who serve them.
Yet the evidence is obvious. We have developed a food addiction. This has led to an obesity epidemic. An epidemic of diabetes type 2 is around the corner. We are experiencing the highest ever numbers of heart disease, colon and bowel cancer. We are eating the wrong food and it is slowly killing us. Only our body knows the right food for our body. “Diet experts” give us advice/opinions about the best food to eat. But they don’t have the qualifications, nor are they likely to know what happens to the food once it has passed your lips. To learn about being addicted and what you can do to cure it.
