The Psychology of Eating Disorders | World of Psychology http://psychcentral.comThu, 08 Aug 2013 10:23:08 GMT According to statistics provided by the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD), there are up to 24 million people in the.
Eating Disorders. But one disorder stands out by its absence in almost every reference.
I’m referring eating disorders we call Food Addiction. If being addicted to food is not an eating disorder then –What is it? It affects around 60% of the population. It continues to affect more people every day. It is costing the state billions of dollars in health costs. It is already killing people.
The eating disorders we call Food addiction
has been caused by a complete reversal in our normal diet. The change came about around forty years ago when we were coerced and scared into abandoning our traditional diet for a new modern diet that we have come to know as food Pyramid.
The bulk of the foods that are dominant in both the Food Pyramid and the Food Plate is highly addictive. They are responsible for food addiction. In turn, food addiction causes obesity, diabetes type 2, heart disease and cancer. So why is such as serious eating disorder like food addiction being largely ignored? Processed foods have become the most lucrative business in the world. Like the tobacco industry, the food industry has based itself on an addiction. You know what they say: The most profitable business is one that feeds a starving crowd. But that’s not exactly true. The most profitable business is one that can legally grow and supply an addiction. Promoting an addiction is an immoral, insidious kind of business.
It relies on users to pass their addiction along to their own children. And most do because the food industry makes sure the words “food addiction” are suppressed and hidden in as much misinformation as their in-house “research” departments can produce. You are probably thinking: They can’t get away with that for very long! No? Try a hundred years.
That’s how long the tobacco industry has gotten away with it. They are still in business today. I don’t see that changing anytime soon…Do you? But there is one thing you can do to protect yourself and your children.
1. Arm yourself with the facts
2. Cure your addiction
